We also couldn’t afford to buy costumes or candy to give out so we kept the porch light off and sat at home watching kid friendly halloween movies!

Also my older kids usually take my kids out for trick or treating. But, this year, I was sick with a bad cold and the World Series was on, so we stayed home and purchased candy for our kids.
