Sore Throat Tea

I found this recipe someplace on the internet one day as I was scrolling. I wish I could give credit where it is due, but I simply don’t recall where I found it.

My husband has always made what our kids have called “honey tea” when they were sick with chest colds and/or a sore throat. This is an elevated version and it makes it simple to have on hand for when somebody gets that Fall/Winter time crud! You know when what I am talking about, your throat is extremely sore, your coughing you fool head off and your chest is burning with congestion!

Below you will find a wonderful way to have relief from all those awful symptoms! Be certain to bookmark this page so you have it ready to prepare when you have a few minutes!
Please be sure to come back and comment and let me know if it made you feel better!

  • 2 Lemons sliced and remove seeds (make sure you wash and dry them before slicing)
  • 2 Pieces of Ginger , approx. 1″ to 2″ long . Clean Ginger and slice them into coin size pieces
  • 1 to 1/2 cups Honey.
  • 12 to 16 oz jar.

Add ginger then the lemon slices to the bottom of your jar. Pour the honey over the top of them slowly. Allow the honey to seep down into all the cracks and crevices around the lemon and ginger. When you are done, make sure the honey has covered all the lemon and ginger and covers the top of the lemon pieces.
Close your jar and store in the refrigerator. It will form into a “jelly”.
When your feeling lousy, just spoon a teaspoon or two into a mug and cover with boiling water or tea. Stir well and sip.
Stores in refrigerator for 2 to 3 months.
