Summer Time Updates! Twins and more!

We have lots of exciting news in our family, so I thought it was time I share with my followers what is going on in the world of Nana and family!!

Sisters pregnant together

Our late Spring/ early Summer started out with BOTH my daughters pregnant at the same time!!   They were only a couple weeks apart on their due dates.   Our oldest daughter, Crystal expecting twins (a boy and a girl)  and Tiffany expecting a girl.

Kenneth, 5 days old
Karra , 5 days old

Crystal’s twins,  Kenneth and Karra were born at 4:02 pm , 7/11/17, weighing in at 4.2 lbs , 17 inches long and 4.1 lbs , 16.5 inches long.   They were premature, as mom was only 34 weeks and 5 days pregnant.  Even though they came 2 weeks earlier than we had hoped, they are doing fantastic!!   They were born breathing on their own, although Karra did have to have a little oxygen to give her a  small kick start and she had a feeding tube the 1st 48  hours as well.    As of today, they are 1 week old and their pediatrician is extremely happy with how they have progressed.   They  have been in an isolette since they were born to assist them in maintaining their body temperatures.   Each day  , they have been weaned down just a little , and today we were told that hopefully by tomorrow Karra will be able to move to a regular crib.  Their little isolette monitors have to be at 28 for a 24 hour period.  We will know more tomorrow on that.   Her brother Kenneth is right behind her, as his monitor is reading 28.5.   read more

National Picnic Day

Did you know that today is National Picnic Day?

So FROG Reviews and Ramblings decided it was a perfect time to encourage you to grab the kids and family, and go find your favorite place to enjoy some precious time!!

A picnic can be an elaborate well planned thing with lots of home made goodies , or something simple you pick up on the way.   The key to me when I think of a picnic is just to get out and enjoy some well deserved time with your kids and/or grand kids!!!

I plan to celebrate the day with my granddaughters , kids and hubby.  (of course our “Fur Babies)    Sadly, based on our local weather forecast, we may have to have an indoor picnic, but the meaning will still be the same!  I am thinking a blanket on the floor, for the kids , and since Nana and Papa aren’t really able to get on the floor much these days, we may have to enjoy our “picnic” from the nearby couch or chair.   Family time and relaxation!! read more

National Siblings Day

SO TODAY IS  NATIONAL SIBLINGS DAY AND AS I SAT HERE AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE DAY, I HAD SO MANY THINGS COME TO MIND.

Of course, as a mom, my first thoughts were my own children and their siblings.    My next thought was my own brother and sisters.

I will start with my own brother and sisters.   Growing up, I was the middle child.   I have 5 older siblings , my older brother Billy and Ricky, my older sisters Adele,  Kathy and  Dorothy .   I also have 2 younger sisters , Nancy and Gayle.  Nancy and  I have always had a close relationship, and to this day we  still do.   I have a ton of memories as kids growing up, yet as I sit here and think about Siblings Day, it is our relationship that we have now that we have grown.   My brother Billy and I were very close, and I miss him constantly.  He passed away several years ago, and I still find myself when things get crazy in my life, wanting to pick up the phone and call my big brother.   He and I were what we always referred to as the black sheep in the family. My older sisters Kathy and Dorothy and brother Ricky,  I didn’t grow up with , yet in my mind and heart, they are as much my siblings as the ones I lived with growing up.   Sadly, my brother Ricky, I never had a chance to meet before he passed away.   My older sister Kathy, and I had a chance to develop a relationship before she passed away , and I will forever be grateful for those years.   My older sister Dorothy, is still alive, and although we seldom talk, we have the type of relationship that when we do talk, it is as if we haven’t missed a beat.   I love that her and I also have had a chance in our lives to become close at one time, and that no amount of years or distance will ever change that closeness we have.  I have always thought that her and I are very much alike, and it is kind of funny, since we didn’t really know each other until I was almost grown.  Then I have a younger sister, Gayle, that I finally got to know when she was about 17 and although we don’t talk often, I love her dearly. read more

Emotional Days

We had a good day, although it was an emotional and busy one. It started out with the girls (granddaughters) going to their first counseling appointment. This is something that they have needed to have in place for about 6 months, but just wasn’t possible until recently.

I am very blessed to have found a wonderful woman that the girls instantly “clicked” with. I must admit that I wasn’t prepared for the reaction that I saw in the youngest granddaughter, Natalie. I knew that Angela was going to find it easy to talk with a counselor, and I thought that Natalie would just follow along. However, what I saw today after our initial “meet and greet” with the counselor was a little girl who was all of sudden faced with the fact that she might have to deal with some of the feelings that she has been burying down deep. Because of her age, she doesn’t know how to verbally express that, so instead, those emotions and fears come out in her behavior. She has always been the happy child, that is always smiling and doesn’t let you know that she is upset by anything. However, what I saw today after our counseling appointment was a little girl that was crying at the drop of a hat and being extremely combative . She is hurt, mad and confused. It breaks my heart to watch them go through this, and all I can do is love on them and pray. read more
