How the term FROG related to a battle with Cancer

This will be a short series of posts,on how my Blog got it’s name and the people and meaning behind it.    I have been wanting to share with you for quite a while on how my blog’s name originated and have finally decided to sit down and write it, although honestly, it is a hard one to do.  I know there are so many people that are affected by Cancer, and honestly, that is a huge part of how my Blog got it’s name.

The main part of my blog’s name FROG , has a very special meaning to me and I feel that by sharing with my followers, that there will be others that can relate to why I included that as part of my blog’s name. read more

Slime, Success and Failures

Have you heard of this new trend with kids making Slime?   It is all the “rage” at my grand daughter’s school and with all their friends.   In case you are new to my blog, my granddaughters are ages 10 and 11.   So they are Elementary and Middle School age.    It reminds me of the green stuff we would get in a plastic egg when we were kids and played with.  It is basically the same stuff, just a DIY type of project.

To be honest, they have been driving me a little bonkers wanting to constantly make it   Apparently, there are TONS of different recipes on how to do it.   In fact, my 11 year old granddaughter, Angela, has even made it at school in their science class.    read more

High School Graduation Time

As most of you know , and some may not, I have a son who is graduating High School this weekend.   It is hard to believe that my baby, my last child is actually getting ready to leave his “elementary” school years behind!!   I also have 2 granddaughters that live with me, ages 10 and 11 so while my “baby” is graduating High School, I still currently have 2 young ones in the home in their early years of “elementary” school.

I have found myself looking back at all the years of my son’s school career and his growing up years, and as most parents in my position due, wondering  where did the time go?   It seems like it was just yesterday that he was in Middle School and was a skinny awkward kid, getting ready to start High School. I find myself reflecting on the day he started his 1st real job, the day he got his drivers license, bought his own car (with money HE saved up and purchased on his own)   There are just so many things that as a mom, you sit and reflect back on during these last couple weeks before they graduate.    read more

Newest Member of our Family

Life in my home with 2 granddaughters is always lively!    My oldest granddaughter, Angela,   has been begging me for some type of pet for over a year.   Now let me explain why I have not exactly jumped on that for her.  Our home is not a huge house, in fact it is just about 1300 sq. feet.   I love our home and am VERY thankful for it.  Yet, there are days that I feel slightly crowded.

We have 3 bedrooms, with myself, husband, 18 yr old son, my oldest daughter, and 2 granddaughters (ages 9 and 10), PLUS our Boston Terrier and German Shepard.   Both dogs are inside dogs for the most part, so needless to say, our home is quite full.   It is filled with lots of love, laundry and with 4 girls in the house and 2 dogs, it seems as though I am always battling cleaning hair of some type up in the house, whether that is on the floors or in the bathrooms. read more

My Word, Blog Challenge

focus-wht-you-want

I was challenged to choose a word that reflects me for 2017.  This is something that I will draw on when I am stressed or just need a break.    I had to do a lot of soul searching on this one.   The 1st thing that came to mind was Family.   Honestly, I knew it went deeper than that, so I took a little while longer and realized my true word is FOCUS.

Let me explain a little bit why I chose Focus as my word and not Family.  I think that in 2016 I was just surviving the year.   We had so many issues hit our family, that I felt most of the time as if I was just making it through, “getting by”.   My family really is my life, and Focus plays into my love and care of my Family.   This past year, my Focus has been on raising my 2 granddaughters, making sure that they are healthy both physically and emotionally.  focus-distraction read more

We Walked Away!

accident-truck-before-accidentToday has had a lot of mixed emotions for me. Jan 3rd 2015 was a day that will always live in my memory as the day that God showed up and protected my family.    (I apologize in advance for the length of this post, but there is really no way to shorten it.  This is a hard one to put get written down, as I relived it as I wrote it)

My best friend of almost 20 years,  Diane, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in May of the year prior.  When she was diagnosed , I immediately made a trip to her house.   My husband stayed for a day or so, and then traveled home by himself.   He knew that I needed to be there with her while she went through her first treatments.   I stayed for several weeks and then came home.   Yet, I hadn’t been home long when I felt that I needed to go back.   That was basically how I spent the rest of 2014.   I would be home for a couple weeks and then head back to Cincinnati to be with Diane and her family.   Honestly, I was at her home more than I was at my own that year.  I have to say here how AMAZING my own family was during this time!!   My husband stayed home and took care of the house, our daughter and son, and most days our 2 grandchildren.  He never once complained or asked me to stay home.  He is truly the one that God created just for me!!  I am so blessed to be able to say I am his wife!! read more

Why a Blog Challenge

blogging-not-rocket-science

So I have been challenged to write about why I have a blog.   When I first accepted this challenge , I thought well that is easy.  I do it to keep my own sanity.  To give you a brief explanation of what I mean , my blog is my way of getting my daily trials and tribulations down on Grandparents raising Grandchildren in addition to other ramblings in my life.   I also do some product reviews for different brands.. The other subject that I cover in my blog is dealing with Chronic Pain.      read more
