I can’t believe that it is already halfway through September and I am still running our Air Conditioner full blast! I am craving some nice cool, crisp fall evenings.  I want to be able to go outside, with my favorite long sleeve comfy shirt and leggings and look at all the leaves as they change colors! Fall has always been my favorite time of year!   So I figured I would do a blog post about Fall and Halloween to try and get us all in the spirit for fall, even if the weather is failing us so far.   read more

Magic Chef Air Fryer

I recently got the Magic Chef Air Fryer and just started using it this past week.   I have heard for months now how several of my friends love their air fryers. To be completely honest, I just thought it was another new “kitchen gadget” that would be a phase, run its course and we would all go back to normal cooking.   All of my opinions on that changed DRASTICALLY the very first time I cooked in mine!!

I really had no clue how to use it, or what I should cook in it.   I started doing some reading up on the air fryer in general and realized that it is not only good for traditional foods that you would fry, but for so many other foods!   You can even bake in these! read more

Is it a house or a home?

We have owned our home for about 11 years now and I love it for so many reasons.  I will say that it isn’t the newest house and it certainly has a lot of repairs we need to do.   I will admit when I go to a friends house and they have a newly updated kitchen or new furniture in the living room, I get a little envious.   We have lived in this home for 18 years and it was not new when we bought it. I believe it was built in the 70’s. We also have 2 apartments at the back of our property that assists us in paying our mortgage each month.  The key is that it is our HOME and not just a house. read more

Back to School Means Back to Sleep: How to Get Kids On Track With a Good Sleep Routine

As a parent, you notice a difference in how your child feels and acts when they don’t get enough sleep. Despite this, many of us let sleep routines slide over the summer. We can get away with it when the days are long and obligations are few, but when school starts back up, kids need to be getting plenty of zzz’s. Start getting back into that routine early and troubleshoot any sleep problems now to make this transition easier.

What’s keeping your kids up?

Before you start thinking about a sleep routine, it’s easy to overlook some of the obvious reasons that kids may have a hard time sleeping. Comfort is key for kids as much as it is for adults, and a good mattress is the foundation. If an old, worn out mattress is affecting your child’s sleep but you don’t want to spend too much on a new one, carefully look at mattress reviews for an option that won’t give you sticker shock. Take a look at your child’s bedding and pajamas too.
