One of my favorite shopping days of the year is only days away.   I have officially started a countdown to BLACK FRIDAY Shopping deals!   I am the person that saves for months to be able to have enough to go shopping that weekend!   There was a time when I stood in line for hours on end for that one “special” toy my kids just HAD to have!!   All my kids are grown now, but I am happy to say that I have handed that skill down to my children, so they can do it for their own kids!

Neck Pain and Degenerative Disk Disease

Most people that know me understand that I have dealt with Degenerative Disk Disease (DDD) for over 30 years.   When I first started showing symptoms , it was primarily neck pain and shoulder pain.   My Degenerative Disk issues are mainly in my Cervical spine and run down into my Thoracic spine.  (the neck and upper back/shoulders area) However, I do have it in my lower back as well. At this point, it just hasn’t manifested too severely in my low back.  Sadly, I didn’t seek out medical treatment for many, many years, simply because I was afraid of surgery. My mother has degenerative disk disease, so I knew what my future held.

5 Ways Women Can Prepare for The Stresses, Challenges and Joys of Motherhood

Being a parent is already hard enough. For new and single mothers, however, life can seem even harder. But with the right preparation and planning, you can easily adapt your life to parenthood and stress less about this pregnancy. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you out.

Practice Self-Care During and After Pregnancy

Women already tend to see self-care as selfish and that can be compounded by pregnancy. As a single mom or just a new mom, taking extra care of yourself is beneficial for you and your new baby. Stress during pregnancy can increase the risk for your child to experience mental health issues or problems with cognitive development later in life. So be sure to treat yourself to something special, like a prenatal massage, which can reduce physical pain and emotional worry. Yoga during pregnancy can also be helpful and you can continue to practice after as well.

Work From Home

I have always enjoyed working, but about 10 years ago I had multiple neck surgeries which caused me to have to quit working.  Although I am still unable to work, from home or outside the home, I did do a lot of research on ways to make money from home

In today’s society, it is so expensive for parents to work and have to pay for daycare.  Working from home is a great solution to expensive daycare. I can remember years ago, you couldn’t hardly find any work from home options.   That has changed drastically in the last 10 years. I actually had a business I ran from my home when my second child was 2 years old and my son was born.   I turned our bedroom into my office and we moved our bed in the living room. It was a little unorthodox when you walked in my house, but it worked for our family at the time.

Allergies: Seasonal and Food

When we moved to Tennessee 19 years ago,  my oldest daughter started getting sick within a couple months.   I am telling you this child was constantly sick. She would come to me with these awful headaches.  I kept talking her to the doctor and they had no clue what was going on. Finally one of the doctors in the office asked if she’d been tested for allergies.   I was stunned. I had moved from California and never really experienced allergy issues. As a result, I had no idea what they were talking about. The only allergies I really knew about at that point were allergies such as: peanut allergies or food allergies.    This doctor was talking about what is referred to as seasonal allergies. There are lots of physicians that can help with this type of testing such as Dr. Summit Shah.

Holiday Themed Clothing

I am curious how many people buy special clothing for each holiday?

Recently, I have become kind of obsessed with having shirts that indicate I am a “Nana”. I am sure it is because I have been blessed with so many grandchildren in the last few years. My husband and I currently have 12 grandchildren with another one due in early November. There is nothing better than when those precious little ones come running up with their hands extended up to you , saying “Nana or Papa” !! read more

Do some soul searching

As a mom, chances are you are used to juggling responsibilities and wearing several hats.  However, some businesses are oriented toward certain work styles more so than others. For instance, you might become a gig worker, and a platform could act as a liaison between you and your clientele, linking you with people needing your services and helping them to connect with you as needed.  On the other hand, maybe a profitable business idea is gelling in your mind, and you’re ready to build it into a stand alone business.  Plexus points out there are certain indicators you’re born to be a boss.  For instance, if you find yourself solving problems on the fly, you’re always on the go, and taking risks gives you a thrill instead of cold feet, it might be time to consider becoming the leader of your own startup.
